Wrap-Up Your Holiday Gift Wrapping!

Wrap-Up Your Holiday Gift Wrapping!

Are you knee deep in bows, tissue paper and boxes trying to get your holiday gifts wrapped and ready for giving?   I have always enjoyed gathering the cutest wrapping paper designs and hunting down perfectly matched ribbon to create the craftiest bows to adorn my gifts.  I also love matching the wrapping to the personality of the recipient as much as the gift inside.   I know I inherited this from my mom - she definitely holds the title for "most awesome gift wrapper and bow maker -EVER.

However, I've noticed in the last couple of years that I am not as enthusiastic about the elaborate gift-wrapping ritual as in the past.  Maybe it's just my yearning for a simpler way of doing things.  Or, maybe after twelve years of seeing my son and his cousins rip into their gifts {hardly noticing the paper, bow and matching decorative ornament perfectly placed on their package!}  has made me realize I may be better off putting my time and energy into other things!

So this year, in the spirit of keeping it simple and yet still festive, I have decided to use more gift bags to wrap-up my gift-wrapping.   And, if you decide to do the same, don’t let your inner superwoman tell you using gift bags rather than elaborate wrapping and bows is a cop out!  You can make your gift bags look great, too!    Check out my “how to” tutorial below to create the perfect poofs of tissue paper to burst out of your gift bags.  Its simple, beautiful and even “peek proofs” your packages, too!

How to Perfectly Poof Tissue Paper out of your Packages!

Gather your gift bags, tissue paper, tape and gifts.

Poke your finger into the center of a piece of tissue paper,
forming a cone shape.

This is how your paper will look when you flip it over.

Twist the point of the cone to secure the  "poof" shape.

Tape several "poofs" of tissue around the entire perimeter of your gift bag, alternating colors if you wish.

There you have it, a quick and easy, but beautifully wrapped gift!
